Moz’s Refusal

by: wetz

I bought Morrissey - Years Of Refusal album yesterday. It surely does NOT disappoint. I was shocked at how rocking it is, Morrissey IS 49 for god’s sake.

His back-up band really support him and push him into areas I haven’t heard him do in decades. At times, his band sounds like Social Distortion level of guitar/drums crunch.

Stand out tracks for me is “All You Need is Me” and “Something is Squeezing My Skull”

Lost Highway is quickly becoming a record label that I will buy anything they push out.

You’re right on all fronts. Lost Highway releases very little dreck. Even the stuff that I’m not huge fans of (like Tift Merrit) is well done.

What I like most about the Moz is that there are no ballads and no whiny. His last 2 have been really good, but this might be his best yet.

I did enjoy the last Ryan Adams/ Willie Nelson disc from Lost Highway as well.
