JCPenney and The Breakfast Club

As part of its recently launched back-to-school campaign from New York ad agency Saatchi and Saatchi, JCPenney is playing off the famous scenes in the 1985 film "The Breakfast Club." I can't believe how horrible the clothing line looks.
I saw the commercial and was brought right back to that classic John Hughes film. Even down to the movies theme song, Simple Minds "Don't You Forget About Me", but the commercial has the song redone by New Found Glory. You can purchase the EP that includes the track ONLY at JCPenneys store.

I think it is a catchy commercial that is perfect for a "back to School" campaign.
I just saw a poster for a documentary film called "American Teen" and the poster pays homage on the original "Breakfast Club" poster. It is the same director who did "The Kid Stays in the Picture", Nanette Burstein. I will have to pay attention to it.
I loved Kid Stays in the PIcture, but American Teen was a big let down. Wait to rent it.

Cute Commercial
